Zero Tolerance Policy

BACK TO MAIN INDEX

Unfortunately, we have recently seen an increase in abusive, aggressive, and inappropriate behaviour towards our staff.

We want to make it clear that this behaviour will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

Our staff work hard to ensure that you receive the care and support you need, and it is essential that they are treated with respect and courtesy at all times.

Zero Tolerance Policy

We operate a zero-tolerance policy towards any form of abuse, including:

  • Verbal abuse, such as shouting, swearing, or insulting comments
  • Racial or discriminatory remarks
  • Threatening, aggressive, or intimidating behaviour
  • Physical violence or the threat of violence

Any behaviour of this nature will result in immediate action, which may include:

  • Verbal or written warnings: In the case of abusive behaviour, we will issue a formal warning to the patient.
  • Removal from the patient list: In severe or repeated cases of abuse, the patient may be removed from our practice list in accordance with NHS guidelines. This means they will need to seek medical care at another GP practice.
  • Involvement of authorities: If necessary, we will contact the police to ensure the safety of our staff and other patients.

Respectful Communication

We understand that you may feel frustrated or worried at times, especially when dealing with health issues. However, it is crucial to remain calm and respectful when speaking with our team. Our staff are here to help you, and abusive behaviour makes it more difficult for them to provide the care and support you need.

How You Can Help:

  • Be polite and courteous when speaking to our reception, clinical, and administrative staff.
  • Understand that our team is doing their best to assist you, even during busy periods.
  • If you have concerns about your care, please address these in a calm and constructive manner.
  • We are committed to maintaining a safe, respectful environment for everyone – our patients, staff, and visitors.
